The Srisailam Jyotirlinga Yatra is one of the most spiritually electrifying short pilgrimages in all of India — a 3-day journey to the sacred Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple, nestled in the Nallamala forest atop dramatic cliffs above the Krishna River gorge. Srisailam holds a unique dual distinction: it is simultaneously one of the 12 Jyotirlingas (the holiest Shiva shrines in India) and one of the 18 Shakti Peethas (sacred goddess sites). Very few places on earth carry such concentrated spiritual significance.
The drive from Hyderabad through the Nallamala Tiger Reserve is itself extraordinary — winding forest roads, wildlife sightings and the sudden revelation of the Krishna Dam and gorge make the journey to the shrine as memorable as the darshan itself. This yatra is designed for devoted pilgrims and first-time visitors alike, with pre-arranged darshan slots, comfortable accommodation and experienced local guidance to help you navigate every aspect of the temple rituals.
Route: Hyderabad → Nallamala Forest → Srisailam → Krishna Gorge Viewpoints → Hyderabad
Receive darshan at one of India's most sacred shrines — a temple of immense antiquity where Lord Shiva (Mallikarjuna) and Goddess Parvati (Bhramaramba) are worshipped together, set within a granite fort complex draped in forested hills.
Srisailam ranks among the 12 Jyotirlingas — the most powerful manifestations of Lord Shiva on earth — and is the only Jyotirlinga in Andhra Pradesh. Completing a Jyotirlinga darshan here is considered among the highest spiritual merits in Hindu tradition.
Stand at the precipice above the deep Krishna River gorge — a natural wonder of sheer cliffs, ancient forest and the glistening Srisailam reservoir below — one of the most dramatic landscapes in South India.
The 250-km forest road from Hyderabad through the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve — India's largest tiger reserve — winds through ancient teak forests where sightings of spotted deer, peacocks and occasionally leopards are possible.
We secure advance darshan permits so you avoid long queues and can experience the Abhishekam (sacred ritual bathing of the Shivalingam) in peace and with full attention — a privilege that walk-in pilgrims rarely get.
The Bhramaramba shrine within the temple complex is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas — among the most sacred goddess sites in India — where the goddess is worshipped in her form as the Bumblebee deity, an ancient and uniquely regional manifestation.
Depart Hyderabad early morning by private AC vehicle. The journey of approximately 230 km (4–4.5 hrs) takes you through the Nallamala forest — a magnificent drive through one of the largest tiger reserves in India. Arrive at Srisailam by early afternoon. Check in to your hotel or TTD guest house on the hilltop. After rest and freshen-up, proceed for the evening Darshan at the Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple — your guide will take you through the rituals and significance of the shrine. Attend the evening Aarti (Pradosha Aarti if your visit coincides). Dinner at the hotel; early night in preparation for the morning puja.
Rise before dawn for the Suprabhatam Seva (morning awakening prayers) — an extraordinarily moving experience in the pre-dawn silence of the forest temple. Attend the pre-booked Abhishekam (sacred ritual bathing of the Mallikarjuna Shivalingam with milk, honey and sacred water) — reserved slots arranged in advance by our team. Morning darshan of the Bhramaramba Devi shrine. Afternoon: visit the Sikhareswara Temple on the hilltop for panoramic views of the Krishna river gorge and Srisailam reservoir. Walk along the Pat Bhairava viewpoint — one of the most dramatic gorge viewpoints in Andhra Pradesh. Evening: optional ropeway or forest walk. Second night at Srisailam.
Final morning visit to the temple for a quiet pradakshina (circumambulation) of the temple complex at sunrise. Depart Srisailam after breakfast. En route to Hyderabad, stop at the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam — one of the world's largest masonry dams — for views of the vast reservoir and its spectacular spillways. Visit the Ethipothala Waterfalls nearby (seasonal — active July to January) for a refreshing forest stop. Continue to Hyderabad (approx. 3 hrs). Farewell lunch at a celebrated Andhra restaurant on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Drop-off at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport or your city hotel. Yatra complete — blessed and renewed.
"The pre-booked Abhishekam at 5 AM — the forest completely still, the priest chanting, milk pouring over the Lingam — was one of the most profound spiritual experiences of my life. The guide's explanation of the significance made it even more moving. Worth every rupee."
Jan 2026"The drive through the Nallamala — we spotted a herd of spotted deer and a pair of peacocks crossing the forest road — was something we'll never forget. And then suddenly the gorge appears below you and Srisailam above. The setting is absolutely breathtaking."
Feb 2026"We have done several Jyotirlinga pilgrimages. Srisailam is unique — the combination of the Shakti Peetha within the same temple, the forest setting, the gorge viewpoint, all make it unlike any other. Our guide handled every aspect of the darshan with precision and devotion."
Dec 2025"As a solo traveller doing this for the first time, I was nervous about navigating the temple procedures. The guide took care of everything — dress code, prasad, darshan timing. The Pat Bhairava gorge viewpoint on Day 2 was an unexpected highlight. Highly recommend."
